When llamas come into the care of Southwest Llama Rescue, Inc. (SWLR), they are health-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, sheared and manicured. Some males are gelded. The llamas then go to one of our SWLR facilities, where they are prepared for adoption into pre-screened homes. All SWLR llamas are placed with a non-breeding contract.
Prior to placement, adopters must meet farm requirements and submit adoption forms. A facility check will be done by a SWLR member.
There is an adoption fee of $150.00 for each llama unless adopting 3 llamas or more, then fee is $125.00 each. If adopters can no longer care for an SWLR llama, the llama must be returned to SWLR.
We at SWLR hope you will consider fostering or adopting one of our rescues. We have many available for adoption.
We also have llamas that, for whatever reason, will not be adopted, but will instead by cared for at our rescue facilities. We need people willing to sponsor these llamas by donating financially for their day-to-day care.
Available llamas are sorted by their location. Obviously, while adopting a llama residing nearby is preferable, sometimes long range transportation can be arranged so don't be afraid to widen your search, especially if you can transport yourself. Llamas are very clan oriented so we do our best to adopt them in familiar groups and never adopt a single llama to someone who does not already have other llamas.
